MS DORCAS AFFI tells her Life transitioning story of how OD has made her who she is today. She relives the thrill when her interest in sustainable development and its related development work was met with an opportunity to apply for the MSc Organisational Development (OD) Programme at the College for Community and Organisational Development, CCOD. The fact that the college used experiential learning, research and 70% practical approach to
imparting knowledge coupled with coaches assigned to students to guide and shape their understanding and practice gave her confidence in her understanding of the theories, tools and practice of OD.
Today, she proudly attributes the establishment of her Consulting Firm “A.Dee Business Development Consult” to the knowledge gained from CCOD. She professionally provides value-added consulting services to assist SMEs to start and expand their business operations in Africa.
A few months after the business establishment, she got a partnership agreement with the Colombo Strategy Consultants (Pvt) Ltd, an innovative strategy company established in Sri Lanka and USA to support SMEs in Ghana. They have gone ahead to train over 5,000 SMEs in business and financial management and entrepreneurial competencies across the country.
Her experience in OD qualified her for a two-year contract with GIZ, a German based organization, as the Regional Advisor for their Decentralization Reforms (SfDR) programme in the Brong Ahafo Region. With the application of OD in her work, Brong Ahafo Region, in the SfDR programme, has been identified to have an efficient and effective cooperation between the national and international personnel which has enhanced efforts to achieve the programme’s objective.
